Wilton runs north and south along Route 7, the Danbury Road, between Norwalk and Ridgefield. The road carries most of the town's offices and businesses, and the Metro-North Danbury Branch runs beside it with stops at Wilton and Cannondale.
Wilton Center, near the Route 7 and Route 33 split, has the shops, restaurants and the library. Cannondale is a small historic area to the north, and Georgetown takes in the corner by Redding and Weston. Silvermine crosses into Wilton from Norwalk and New Canaan to the south. Away from Route 7, the town is wooded, with colonials and contemporaries on generous lots and Weir Farm National Historical Park on the Ridgefield line.
From Fairfield, the drive is up the Merritt to Route 7 or across through Westport and Weston.
