Stratford sits on the east side of Bridgeport, where the Housatonic River meets Long Island Sound. I-95 and the Merritt Parkway both cross the town before bridging the river into Milford, and Barnum Avenue (US 1) is the main commercial road.
Lordship is a shoreline neighborhood at the south tip, near Sikorsky Memorial Airport and Long Beach. Paradise Green has a small commercial center surrounded by neighborhoods of capes and colonials. Stratford Center, around Main Street and the train station, holds some of the town's oldest homes. To the north, Oronoque is quieter, with condo communities and larger homes near the Shelton line.
Stratford also has an industrial history, and Sikorsky Aircraft still has its headquarters here. From Fairfield, we reach it on I-95 through Bridgeport.
